About the Event
Research has demonstrated that teacher clarity (d=0.75) combined with clearly established learning goals (d=0.68) and scaffolding (d=0.82) has a very high impact on student achievement (Hattie, 2017). Put those three things together and you get Focused Instruction, the essential first step in the Gradual Release of Responsibility. During this session, participants will:
- Delve deeply into the Focused Instruction aspect of the Gradual Release approach;
- Learn how to communicate clear learning intentions to students;
- Light the path the learning with clear success criteria.
