Addressing Inequity
About the event
As we navigate new educational challenges resulting from COVID-19, teachers and leaders need support now more than ever. Uncertainty and unpredictability are potential enemies of efficacy. Collective efficacy has long been recognized as a critical influence on positive work environments, increased team capacity, and student achievement. We know it’s important, but how do we foster collective efficacy with our staff? These webinars are designed to focus on various aspects of building individual and collective efficacy by providing practical strategies. The result is increased effort, motivation, and perseverance in the face of challenges.
To address educational inequity, it is essential for school leaders to assume responsibility for fostering beliefs and understandings about equitable learning processes amongst staff. When leaders are willing to flatten the hierarchies long present in schools, the resulting empowerment of teachers develops cadres of equity champions, motivated to ensure ongoing collaboration to meet the needs of students who might be marginalized or disadvantaged in some way. In this session we will explore how school leaders have successfully closed achievement gaps with an intentional focus on building collective efficacy.
